Welcome to the Presbyterian Advocacy Coalition! We are glad you found us!

Here are some quick answers to questions you may have about our organization:

  1. What is our purpose? The primary purpose of the Presbyterian Advocacy Coalition is to serve the church of our Lord Jesus by providing support, assistance, referrals to victims of domestic violence, sexual abuse, and clergy abuse. We also provide assistance to church leaders in understanding and responding to abuse situations.

  2. What is your denominational affiliation? The Presbyterian Advocacy Coalition is comprised of advocates and volunteers from several denominational backgrounds. However, we presently serve primarily in the Orthodox Presbyterian Church and the Presbyterian Church of America. You do not need to belong to these denominations to contact us!

  3. Are your advocates and volunteers trained for this work? Absolutely! Our advocates have extensive education and experience in abuse prevention and advocacy. Please see our staff page for more information.

  4. What services do you provide? Domestic abuse, clergy abuse, and sexual assault are often complex scenarios. We aim to be flexible in our response, providing a variety of assistance to meet needs. This may include referral to local domestic violence resources or counselors, counsel in ecclesiastical cases, and practical help with urgent needs. All calls to our hotline are FREE and CONFIDENTIAL!

  5. I’m not sure that my situation qualifies as domestic violence because my abuser does not hit me. Can I still call? Please do! Abuse takes on many forms (physical, emotional, spiritual, sexual, financial, and stalking). While many abusive relationships do involve physical violence at some point, not all of them do. However, other forms of abuse may be just as damaging. For more information, please see our resources on abusive relationships.

  6. I am a pastor seeking assistance with a specific situation in my congregation/family. Can I call the hotline? Yes! We provide FREE consultations through our hotline to clergy seeking assistance with abuse matters. Your call is confidential!

  7. How can I contribute financially to the Presbyterian Advocacy Coalition? Please click the “Get Involved” tab at the top right of this page! We are always grateful for support!
